Our Mission

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ as God provides the means and direction: leading people to saving faith, teaching them all that Christ has commanded, equipping the saints for the work of ministry, and growing in every way into the likeness of Christ, our Head.

About Grace Church

Grace Church is an independent, reformed, evangelical church located in Birmingham, AL – at the intersection of the communities of Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Vestavia Hills.

Grace Church is a young, resilient congregation with an impassioned commitment to Gospel-centered ministry and worship. Our story begins in 2021, amid a desire to remain rooted in the authority of Scripture and the historic Christian faith during a season of significant theological change within many mainline denominations.

Unified by a vision to plant a new church in Birmingham that would be relational, missionally engaged, and theologically clear about the gospel of grace, Grace Church held its first services in September 2022. The initial gatherings were marked by a spirit of warmth and enthusiasm, drawing together families from across Birmingham who shared a desire for liturgical worship, biblical teaching and gospel-centric preaching. Since inception, the hallmarks of Grace Church have been fellowship meals, teaching, prayer, and robust community-building.

Grace Church is a community dedicated to being a family in Christ. The core beliefs and values of Grace Church resemble that of the early church as outlined in Acts 2:42 - And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

What does it mean to be

Independent

Reformed

Evangelical

Independent: Grace Church is locally led by a group of men called the Session, which includes elders and the senior pastor. We are currently non-denominationally affiliated and believe that our independence is a hallmark of our commitment to the Gospel.

Reformed: Grace Church believes the Holy Scripture is the inerrant word of God. We are highly influenced by the historic creeds and the confessions and catechisms of the Reformation. Although inferior to Scripture, they are useful tools to summarize and interpret biblical teachings, helping believers to understand and articulate their faith. While holding firm to the five Solas of the Reformation, on secondary matters we offer freedom and show charity.

Evangelical: In line with the historical definition of evangelical, we believe in the sufficiency and authority of God’s word, the Bible, as the ultimate measure of our faith and practice as a church. We believe in salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
